Seared Tuna Steaks

We normally have dinner with the grandparents on a Sunday.
Having them around is always interesting and learning something new, is always bound to happen.

My mom is a "fish-fundi".
I have been trying to document her fish filleting and frying for years now. This in itself, is a mission.
She never stops talking and believes that good food takes time to prepare. Exhausting! I think it’s a ploy because she knows that it’s the one thing, I still struggle with and one of her best qualities.

I had a plan. She was not going to wear me out this time. I was going to watch her like a hawk. I knew, that if I promised to make the roasted veg, she would automatically offer to do the Tuna.

Thank me people because we now have Seared Tuna in the bag!

Seared Tuna

1          Tuna (2-3cm) Slice / Cross section
Salt & Black Pepper (freshly ground) - to taste
2 T       Oil
1 T       Margarine

  1. Defrost, if frozen.
  2. Remove skin.
  3. Cut into smaller pieces and season with Salt & Black Pepper.
  4. Heat Oil and Margarine in a pan on Medium heat, until bubbles form.
  5. Place all your Tuna Pieces in the pan and fry for 5 minutes.
  6. Turn Tuna over and fry for a further 5 minutes, till golden brown.

Tip: I prefer my Tuna well-done. You can experiment by adjusting the frying times and find out what you prefer.
