Cinnamon French Toast

Do you know that the name French Toast has nothing to do with France? It is named after Joseph French who invented this dish.

The correct name should be Egg-Dipped Pan Toasted Bread but who cares because it is delicious.

Imagine sinking your teeth into this Cinnamon-syrup-soaked-wonder.

Imagine no more…

Ingredients:

1      Bread, not sliced (any bread of your choice)

4      Eggs

2T     Sugar

1t     Ground Cinnamon

¼C   Water

½t     Vanilla Essence

         Oil & Butter/Margarine

1. Slice the Bread into 2cm thick slices and cut each slice into 3 pieces.

2. Add all the other ingredients into a bowl and whisk it until it is frothy.

3. Dunk the Bread quickly into the egg mixture, make sure, to cover all the sides.

4. Heat a pan and add a little oil with a small knob of Butter/Margarine.

5. Place it into the pan and fry all the sides until they are golden brown.

6. Place it on a plate, drizzle it with syrup and add some fresh fruit or berries.

Tips:

  • DO not be tempted to flatten your bread with an egg lifter.
  • Do not leave your bread to soak in the egg mixture. The idea is to cover the outside, not soak the inside.
  • Add the oil and Butter/Margarine combination after each batch, this ensures that each slice has a bronze shine.

Absolute Bliss…

Lotsa Love
