What you need: Eggless Recipe
2 C Cake
Flour
½ t Salt
¾ t Water
3 T Oil
- Combine Flour and Salt.
- Add Water and Oil.
- Knead for 5 minutes until dough becomes soft and smooth.
- Cover and leave to rest for 8 minutes.
I always enlist the Tortilla rolling skills of my son,
Deen.
- Flour surface and divide into small balls.
- Roll out thinly, into odd round shapes. No perfection required.
- Brush with Oil, heat pan and fry oil-brushed side down.
- Brush top with oil, wait for bubbles to form & flip over.
- Done! Now do the next one.
Interesting
to know, that you can use the same dough for:
Quesadillas
- Raw Tortillas.
- Filled with cheese and breakfast fillings.
- Folded in ½.
- Dampen edges with water to quash closed.
- Shallow fry on both sides.
- 2-3 minutes a side.
Nachos
- Soft fried Tortillas.
- Cut into triangles.
- Fried on both sides until crispy.
Enchilados
- Soft fried Tortillas.
- Dipped in a tomato sauce.
- Filled with a savoury filling.
- Rolled and placed into oven dish.
- Covered with extra sauce + cheese.
- Baked in oven.
- 10 - 15 minutes
Tacos
- Soft fried Tortillas.
- Folded in half with a thongs.
- Fried in shallow oil on both sides.
- This forms a crisp, cooked taco shell.
Empanadas
- Raw or Soft Fried Tortillas.
- Filled with a savoury filling.
- Folded ½.
- Dampen edges with water to quash closed.
- Baked in the oven on both sides.
- +/- 10 minutes
Burrito’s
- Soft, Fried Tortilla.
- Filled with savoury filling, Cheese, Guacamole, Salsa.
