Haddock Shepherds Pie

The only mention Haddock ever gets is as an option at a breakfast buffet.

I love poached Haddock.

There is so much more to this beautifully smoked fish.

This Haddock Shepherd’s Pie is a comfort food classic to my family.

I hope it will become one of your favourites too.

1. Add the Egg to the cooled mashed potatoes and mix it until it is light and fluffy. Set it aside.

2. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.

Step2: Cook the Haddock.

3. Place the Haddock on a microwave safe plate.

4. Cover it with cling wrap, poke 3 holes into it and put it into the microwave oven for 5 minutes.

5. Remove the cling wrap carefully and allow it to cool.

6. Remove the skin and flake fish with a fork. Set aside.

Step3: Make the Cheese Sauce.

7. Melt the Margarine or Butter in a small pot.

8. Add the Cake Flour and stir.

Pour the Milk into pot, add the Salt and Black Pepper and mix well.

9. Add Cheddar Cheese and stir until the sauce is smooth and thick.

10. Add the flaked Haddock and stir through.

Step4: Assemble the Pie.

11. Dish the Cheesy Haddock mixture into an oven proof dish.

12. Plonk the Mashed Potatoes on top and make a little pattern.

13. Sprinkle it with Black Pepper on top and bake in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes.

14. Divide the pie into 6 to 8 portions.

Enjoy!

Lotsa Love
