Classic Chocolate Cake


Nothing is more decadent and indulgent than this classic chocolate cake.

Plain or decorated.

This moist chocolate cake is an absolute delight.


Cake Ingredients:

1C    Sugar

4       Eggs

½C   Oil

1½C Cake Flour

3t      Baking Powder

½t     Salt

¼C   Cocoa Powder

½C   Warm Water


Chocolate Icing Sugar Ingredients:

125g    Margarine

1¼ C    Icing Sugar

2T    Cocoa Powder

1t     Vanilla Essence


Let’s bake the Cake:

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

2. Add all the ingredients into a bowl and mix everything together into a sloppy batter.

3. Use 3x 17cm or 2x 20cm round baking pans. Line the baking pans with some baking paper. Trace out the bottom of the pan with a pencil, cut them out and put them onto the bottom of the pans. Spray or Oil the sides of the pans and set them aside.


4. Divide the cake batter equally into 2 or 3 parts, put them into the pans and then bake them in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes.

5. Remove the baked cake from the oven, allow it to cool and turn it out onto a wire rack.


Let’s make the Chocolate Icing:

6. Put all the ingredients into a bowl and mix it well.


Let’s put it all together:

7. Once the cakes are cooled, sandwich them together with some Chocolate Icing.

8. Dust the top with some Icing Sugar.
