Chicken Liver Patè




Fantastic as a healthy snack with Carrots, Cucumbers or Celery.


An amazing spread on fresh bread or toast.



This Chicken Liver Patè is a true winner on every level.



Ingredients:

500g Chicken Livers

1T      Oil

1       Onion

2       Fresh Garlic Cloves

¼t     Salt

1C    Chicken Stock

         Black Pepper (to taste)

¼C   Butter

1       Bay Leaf


1. Rinse the Chicken Livers and cut them in ½ and set it aside.

2. Peel and slice the Onions and Fresh Garlic Cloves.

3. Add the Oil, Onions and Garlic to a pan. Fry it for 3 to 5 minutes on medium heat.

4. Add the Chicken Livers to the pan. Reduce the heat and simmer it for 5 minutes. Stir it through gently.

5. Add the Salt, Chicken Stock and Black Pepper. Cover the pan with a lid and simmer it for 10 to 15 minutes, until the Chicken Livers are soft.

6. Remove the lid from the pan and cook out the excess water but do not cook it until it is entirely dry. +/- 5 to 10 minutes

7. Remove it from the heat and allow it to cool.

8. Choose the consistency:

Chunky – Squash the mixture roughly with a fork.

Smooth – Use a blender for a smooth and creamy consistency.

9. Dish the Chicken Liver Patè into a bowl. Do not fill the bowl to the top. Leave some room for the melted butter.

10. Melt the Butter and pour it over the top of the Chicken Liver Patè.

11. Cover it and refrigerate overnight.


Great for breakfast, lunch or Supper.
