Mashed potatoes are the
perfect partner to many warm winter dishes.
When it’s prepared with care,
this simple dish can be transformed into something special.
Ingredients:
1kg Potatoes
1t Salt
1t Baking Powder
1t Salt
1T Butter/Margerene
½C Milk
Tip:
Read the label on the potato bag before you buy it. The label will indicate
whether the potatoes can be used for boiling, roasting, chips, etc.
1. Remove the potatoes from the bag and rinse them.
2. Peel the potatoes, cut them into medium size
squares and rinse them again.
4. Cover the pot with a lid and bring it to the boil.
5. Cook on medium heat for 30 to 45 minutes.
6. Once, the potatoes are soft, drain all the warm
water from the pot.
7. Add the Baking Powder, Butter, Milk and the other 1t
Salt into the pot of hot potatoes.
8. Use a potato masher or a fork to mash and mix the hot boiled potatoes until they are smooth, light and fluffy.
Tip: Do not be alarmed when the Baking Powder starts to bubble, this is normal. Continue to mash and mix. This is my secret to light and fluffy mashed potatoes.
9. Dish it into a family size serving plate, share and enjoy…
This is comfort food at it’s best.
Lotsa Love
