Beignets


Beignets are a staple of the New Orleans food culture. Many tourists visit there just to have this square shaped pastry.

This is my easy version of this famous treat.



Ingredients:
Puff Pastry (store bought)
Oil
Icing Sugar

1. Defrost the Puff Pastry until it is at room temperature.

2. Lay the pastry out on a well-floured work surface.

3. Measure and cut the pastry into equal squares.

4. Fill a small pot to a third of the way with Oil.

5. Heat the Oil until it’s hot enough to start frying.

Tip: Test if the Oil is hot enough by frying small pieces of dough. When the dough fries quickly, puffs up and floats to the top, it is ready.

6. Fry 2 to 3 pieces at a time.

7. Fry them on both sides.

8. Once they are ready, remove them from the Oil and place them on Kitchen Towel to remove any excess Oil.

9. Dust them with Icing Sugar.
