Broccoli has become popular in recent years. It is low in calories and an extremely healthy choice of vegetable.
Steamed Broccoli can be
prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator or freezer. It is also a
versatile dish that can easily be transformed.
Ingredients:
1 punnet of Broccoli
1. Cut and separate the Broccoli into smaller
florets.
2. Put the florets into the steamer basket and rinse
it with cold water.
3. Fill the steamer pot one third of the way full
with hot water.
4. Cover the pot with a lid and bring the water to a
boil on high heat. +/- 5 minutes.
5. Once the lid starts to move, reduce the heat to
medium.
6. Put the steamer basket with florets into the
steamer pot and cover it with the lid. Boil the pot for 10 minutes.
7. Remove the steamer basket with the steamed
Broccoli from the pot and run cold water over it until it has cooled down.
This is how to make Basic Steamed Broccoli.
Tip: For a different flavour profile, add some Salt,
Pepper, Soy Sauce, Garlic, Ginger or Fresh Herbs.
